What is Fearing Gorilla?

Fearing Gorilla is a VR multiplayer horror game developed by TH3GANG, available on Meta Quest and itch.io. It launched in early access in January 2025. The game takes the arm-swinging movement from Gorilla Tag and drops it into something much darker -- procedurally atmospheric worlds with monsters, liminal spaces, and other players losing it over voice chat.

Movement is purely physics-based, no joysticks, no artificial locomotion. You swing, climb, push off walls, and grip surfaces with your actual hands. Running from a Wendigo in full VR while your arms are going full speed is something you have to feel to understand.

Arm-Based Movement
Pure physics locomotion. Swing, climb, jump. Your real arms drive every motion.
Liminal Worlds
Forest, Mines, Dream Core, Hospice. Each map is a descent into something wrong.
Monster Encounters
Dwellers stalk each map. Run. Hide. Use height. Don't make noise.
Social Horror
Voice chat, lobbies, shrines. Friends make it chaotic. Alone makes it worse.

What Hunts You

Each map has its own monsters, called Dwellers, each with their own behavior and ways of finding you. Some stalk. Some sprint. Some you can hear long before you see them.

Wendigo
Deer skull, walks upright. It searches, spots you, and closes in fast. Get high or get caught.
Error Lucy
Something corrupted it. Moves wrong. You can't predict where it's going to end up.
Jester
You'll hear it laughing before it reaches you. Knowing it's coming doesn't really help.
The Spider
It walks on the ceiling. Looking up is bad. Not looking up is also bad.
Overseer
Watches from far away. Only moves when you look away from it.
Sandman
Not fast. Doesn't matter. Once it locks onto you it won't stop until it gets there.
Stalker
Multiples... ???
Krampus
Winter maps only. Hits harder than anything else in the game. Seasonal.

Get Out Alive

Explore, scavenge, survive. Tunnels connect maps -- the Forest leads to the Mines, the Mines lead deeper. Shrines let players summon Gods for chaotic effects. Cosmetics are earned through Shiny Rocks, the in-game currency.

Peak concurrent players crossed 500,000 by mid-2025. Whether you're doing parkour with friends in casual lobbies or solo-running the Hospice at 2am with your headset volume maxed, Fearing Gorilla is a different game every session.
